On behalf of the International Scientific Committee (ISC), and in collaboration with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, we are thrilled to announce the 1st International Symposium on Streptococcus agalactiae Disease (ISSAD), which will be held in Cape Town, South Africa from the 20th – 23rd of February 2018.
We are privileged to have an International Scientific Committee (ISC) comprising worldwide leaders in the field of Streptococcus agalactiae (Group B Streptococcus- GBS), and anticipate that this inaugural symposium will bring together experts and key stakeholders in various fields of GBS for enhanced collaboration, advance the thinking, and exchange ideas aimed at progressing towards a GBS-disease-free population. We hereby invite all researchers, clinicians, healthcare and public health practitioners to join us in sharing ideas, information, science and the future prospects for Group B Streptococcus disease prevention.
The symposium will comprise of a single-stream of oral presentations including a number of plenary talks and free oral papers, together with time slots for posters to be shared. There will also be ample opportunity for informal networking, discussion and debate with fellow professionals in the field.
The ISSAD promises to be an interactive and comprehensive platform covering topics ranging from the GBS disease burden and challenges to the epidemiology, immunology and vaccinology of GBS and everything in between. A limited number of travel scholarships will be available for delegates from countries with developing economies. We look forward to welcoming you to the Mother City for this exciting pilot event!
